First day of training at Coronet Peak
The 2013 Snow Trainers crew are super excited after an incredible start to the ski season in Queenstown. They arrived at the perfect time, right after a massive dump of snow that turned the town white. These guys and girls are from all parts of the world, but they have one thing in common – they all love the snow and lots of it!
The crew got to know each other and their new home by kicking off their opening night with pizza and beers, followed by a night out on the town during the Queenstown Winter Festival. By midnight the young crew were busting moves on the dance floor and looked right at home in this amazing party town. It's not all about partying though, the next morning they were awake early and working on their fitness by hiking Queenstown Hill – that’s a 45 minute hike with an impressive view once you make it to the top. It's great to see that these guys are unstoppable! The next day they tested their nerves and had the adrenalin pumping as the team went bungy jumping (and only a couple of people backed out - Will and Courtney ...)
The evening was a bit more relaxed when we had a really informative tech session at R&R Sports, and now everyone knows the difference between camber and rocker :) The weekend was spent getting to know the local mountains, Coronet Peak and The Remarkables, and then on Monday the crew had their first official day of training at Coronet. There were smiles all around and after the first week everyone has improved loads, can't wait to see how good they are by the end of the season!
Oh, and we also managed to fit in a night of bowling. Congrats to Harry who scored a whopping 151 and was closely followed by Alan on 150.
